🤖 Amazon Tests Humanoid Robots for Delivery
Amazon is building a closed "humanoid park" in San Francisco to test robots from various manufacturers, including Unitree and Agility Robotics. The goal is to automate package delivery so that these robots can independently exit vehicles and bring orders to the door.
The company has been automating warehouses for several years, and now it is betting on AI software for robots, using open-source LLMs like DeepSeek-VL2 and Qwen from Alibaba. Testing in the "humanoid park" resembles the early stages of drone development: first a closed track, then "field trips" to the city streets.
Scenario: a robot can assist the driver by delivering packages to neighboring houses or buildings, speeding up delivery. For complete human displacement, not only an autonomous robot is needed, but also transportation automation - this is what Zoox, Amazon's subsidiary, is working on.
Skeptics believe that copying the human form is not always rational, but Amazon continues to experiment.
How long do you think it will take to see 100% automated delivery, and how will this reduce costs?
