Discussion on Honesty in CVs and Expertise

Discussion on honesty in CVs and how it relates to expertise.

Recently, I participated in a discussion where a recruitment consultant suggested deceiving employers in CVs under the pretext of "the market is tough, everyone does it." When the audience started pointing fingers at "professional ethics," the response was: "it was trolling" - yet the thought "what's the big deal" continued to be broadcast. The post predictably gained a lot of attention - precisely because it touched everyone.

This story is not unique, it's more of a trend: bloggers provoke (intentionally or not) their audience, gaining reach and followers.

The paradox for me personally is how this aligns with expertise. Logically, people should shy away from such advisors like the plague. But either everything is quickly forgotten (while subscriptions remain), or it's something else.

A similar example that I fell for: I was looking for an online piano teacher, stumbled upon an expensive expert who records reels well - academically, they didn't measure up, as became clear after the first lesson. I found another later: no reels, but there's a process and results. Whose business is doing better - it's unclear.

What do you think about this?
