Guys, I have a bit of a strange question that has been bothering me for a while, and I need you to help me check it.

I periodically look at the channel statistics and sometimes see quite a few "shares" of posts, as well as views attributed to PM. I have a hypothesis that you are not sharing with friends, but rather saving them in "Saved Messages" to read later. The documentation is silent on this matter, and as a true engineer, I decided to conduct an experiment.

I need you to simply save this post in Saved Messages and then go take a "look" at it in your saved messages, and I will check the statistics after some time, figure everything out, and share with you. To make it easier, let’s use the emoji 👌 when you’re ready.

P.S. By the way, in a similar way, I found out that the number of views on a post (the number next to the eye icon) is the number of unique users who saw the post, while, for example, the number of views on YouTube is indeed views (i.e., when Dudya's video got 20M views, it’s not necessarily 20M people, but it could very well be 8M who returned 3 times to finish watching it).

UPD: In general, the interim results show that saving in Saved Messages is indeed counted as a Share. However, I did not see a spike in PM views. Although there’s an interesting thought in the comments - that views are counted per day, meaning if one person watched a couple of times (today and tomorrow) - it will count twice. This also needs to be checked, but it should be done on a limited audience and a closed new channel.
