Today, YouTube served me the documentary The Minimalists: less is Now.
Despite the obvious message: consume less in a world of consumption to be happier, the film somehow really touched me, which doesn't happen often.
For some reason, I remembered that once when I asked a girl, "What do you like, what would you like to receive as a gift to feel good?" she replied, "Emotions and experiences." At that time, as a person trying to gift flowers/chocolates/something else, I was very surprised. So much so that I wrote this thought down in a list of key ideas that I've been keeping for quite a while and periodically reread. "You need to acquire emotions, experiences, and memories, not things."
I also have a long-standing thought about living with just 100 things (only having 100 items I can own), but with kids, I hesitate to take such a step, although I'm curious about what would be on that list.
What do you think about consumer society?
P.S. And watch the film, it's cool https://youtu.be/J8DGjUv-Vjc
