🤖 AI vs Reality: Why Agents Won't Take Off

AI agents, automation, MCP - it sounds like the future. But it crashes against a simple fact: no one wants to let bots access their data. The problem isn't with the interfaces - APIs have been available for a long time. The issue lies in business: monetization is built on people's attention, and agents kill that attention.

Imagine how convenient it would be to tell an agent: “watch a three-hour video on YouTube, jot down the key points, and relate them to my knowledge base.” But Google will resist this to the last. Because such an agent means less advertising, fewer views, and less money.

I've seen this before with RTB and RSS: the idea is great, but the implementation is killed by the big players. Now history is repeating itself.

I want to believe that AI will outsmart the defenses. But it seems that's an illusion.
