🧠 As of July 20, Anthropic is changing the access terms for Claude Fable 5, the company's most powerful model.
Fable 5 was released on June 9 as the public version of the Mythos model and has outperformed all other Anthropic models in benchmarks, especially on long and complex tasks. Since its release, the included access has been extended several times due to higher demand than the company anticipated.
Now, Fable 5 will be included in the Max and Team Premium plans, but only at 50% of the usual limits. Pro and Team Standard plans will lose built-in access entirely—the model will only be available through usage credits at the API rate: $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, twice as expensive as Opus 4.8 and five times more than Sonnet 5. To ease the transition, these subscribers will receive a one-time credit of $100.
Essentially, Anthropic acknowledges that it cannot maintain unlimited access to its top model at the price of a regular subscription and is shifting the most active users to pay-as-you-go pricing.
