💸 The free ride is over. Users have been informed that starting June 15, using Claude Code with the -p key (which users built their automations on) will no longer be included in the subscription and will instead consume 'credits'. This has been presented, as usual, under the pretext of 'we care about users, so we are giving you a separate credit for automation' - in reality, this credit is about 25 times less than what is currently available under the subscription, meaning anything beyond that will have to be paid for with the expensive API.
Predictably, but sadly.
The practical takeaway is that it will no longer be possible to thoughtlessly build agents; it’s time to think about optimizing expenses: use only the models that are necessary (not everything requires the top model), save context, avoid calling agents when it’s not needed, etc.
I predict a whole business niche - optimizing expenses through various types of monitoring and rewriting agents.
