A group of scientists presented the complete connectome of the fruit fly brain.

<p>🧠 A group of neurobiologists has presented the results of their latest project - the complete connectome of the fruit fly brain. This project includes about 130,000 annotated neurons and tens of millions of typed synapses!</p>

<p>Researchers have developed several tools to access and study this data. The main portal for data access is Codex. Now, for each neuron, you can request information about its connectivity, size, neurotransmitter, labels, etc., as well as analyze network graphs and find paths between neurons!</p>

<p>Their paper analyzes the ocellar network, created by the project across all brain regions, and calculates the flow of information from input to output neurons. This is just a small part of what can now be analyzed!</p>

<p>The study of the fruit fly brain represents a real breakthrough in understanding neural networks. It allows scientists to explore new horizons in neurobiology, stepping into uncharted territories of brain connections and neural pathways.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, returning to the previous post - there are people who believe that it is impossible to create an artificial brain and “consciousness” simply by reproducing connections using processors and that it is much more complex inside, involving quantum mechanisms. What do you think?</p>

<p>As for me, I still see no reason why it would be impossible to create a copy of a person by recreating the brain, which means all our “self,” consciousness, etc., is just an algorithm for processing information received from sensors (eyes, skin, ears, etc.) and memory.</p>
