Discussion on Writing Texts with AI

An online discussion questions whether AI should be used for writing texts.

A heated discussion is unfolding online based on the article https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/opinion/artificial-intelligence-ai-writing.html, which urges users not to use AI for writing texts, as the process of writing is closely linked to the process of thinking. The article https://fs.blog/why-write/ supports this thesis, referencing an essay by Paul Graham.

Some claim that passing off AI-written text as one's own is generally unethical (I recently had a conversation with my 11-year-old daughter on this topic - she reproached me for asking an agent to find school supplies and coordinate with her).

In my opinion, different tasks require different levels of engagement: for some, it's enough to tell the agent "figure it out and decide," while for others, it's indeed better to put the computer aside and think with a pencil in hand. The real skill is being able to distinguish these tasks from one another and having the will to take ownership where it's needed.

What do you think?
