Jensen Huang on Achieving AGI in Lex Fridman Podcast

Jensen Huang stated in the Lex Fridman podcast that AGI has already been achieved. He discussed how AI can build companies and its impact on jobs.

🧠 Jensen Huang (founder of NVIDIA) stated in a podcast with Lex Fridman that AGI has already been achieved.

A new Lex Fridman podcast featuring Jensen Huang has been released - two and a half hours long. Lex, as usual, asks the right questions and listens attentively - while Jensen lifts the curtain on what our future will look like.

The main quote that has already spread: "I think we've achieved AGI." But context is more important than the headline. Lex asked a specific question - can artificial intelligence build and launch a billion-dollar company? Jensen answered: yes, it can already do that. Create a viral app, make money, shut down - just like in the dot-com era. But when Lex asked if artificial intelligence could build NVIDIA - Jensen replied: "the chances are zero percent."

Jensen shared the story of the bet on CUDA - when NVIDIA integrated programmable computing into consumer GeForce graphics cards, the company's market capitalization fell from $8 billion to $1.5 billion. Investors didn’t understand why. It took ten years for the bet to pay off - but it was CUDA that became the foundation on which all artificial intelligence operates today.

Another strong thought - about jobs. In 2019, computer vision surpassed humans in reading medical images. Everyone expected radiologists to lose their jobs. Instead, there are more of them now. Because the throughput of diagnostics increased, and with it, the demand.
