OpenAI Plans to Release an Open Source Model

OpenAI plans to release an open-source model, which could increase competition with Google.

🔍 Open Source AI models are becoming increasingly competitive, approaching the quality of closed models from Google and OpenAI. Professor Ion Stoica from UC Berkeley has developed an open-source AI model based on Meta's technology. He believes that most developers will eventually choose free models, which could impact the business plans of major market players.

The Vicuna model, released in March based on Meta's research, is an open-source counterpart to ChatGPT. Meanwhile, OpenAI is preparing to release a new open-source model, which could put additional pressure on Google and intensify competition.

The rapid development of open AI models could lead to powerful AI tools being available to everyone almost for free, which could also benefit Meta itself.
