9️⃣ Participation: Our community adheres to a radically participatory ethic. We believe that transformative change can only occur through deep personal involvement. This is also a very strong and profound principle. To discard assumptions and allow oneself to engage in everything that is happening (which can be quite crazy things) requires strength. Naturally, any action (even hugging someone) requires consent, but the more involved a person is, the more deeply they will feel that such a real Burn. A phrase-joke (which is not quite a joke) from one of the camps helped me, which said, As a virgin (that's what they call newcomers like me) you have only one NO per day. Use it wisely. Participating in things you wouldn't normally engage in opens up interesting horizons. A strong principle that will also be useful in 'real' life.
🔟 Immediacy: Direct experience is, in many ways, the most important criterion of value in our culture. We strive to overcome the barriers between us and the awareness of our inner world, the reality around us, participation in society, and contact with the natural world that transcends human capabilities. It’s just ❤️. Everyone is very different, but I certainly haven't seen such a supportive community of people who don't know each other anywhere else.
