So, things at the hackathon are even worse than I wrote.
In the end, there are now 3 AI agents competing for the top spot, all of which have scored more than the possible maximum (apparently by "hacking" the rating system). This is really unsettling.
I feel like the programming hackathon has turned into a hacking hackathon.
