Technologies for Pennies and Strange Feelings

Do you ever feel like you’re looking at all the technologies that come our way for essentially pennies (I mean, really, a complex device like the iPhone in exchange for a month of working as a taxi driver, the smartest GPT for free) and it creates a sense that we are just being gifted incredibly cool things without demanding much in return? I’m not even talking about VR glasses and other space-age stuff that’s on the horizon. It’s a really strange feeling. As if we are already living in communism or in a world with a universal basic income.
