The Future of Humanity in the Age of AGI

With the development of AGI, humanity may face new survival scenarios.

Thanks to biological evolution, we have gained advantages in survival and adaptation to our environment. However, with the development of information technology and artificial intelligence, it is quite likely that our world will resemble a digital space where biological survival and adaptation will be less important.

At a certain stage of development, AGI may become smarter than humans, creating the following potential scenarios:

1) humans become extinct as a less advanced species
2) humans continue to live but are not the most developed species (similar to ants)
3) humanity competes on equal footing with AGI
4) the merging of humans and AGI, turning us into cyborgs.

I believe the most preferable option is the last one, where humanity continues to evolve through technology and somehow repeats the fate of the Neanderthals: they disappeared as a species but left a mark in our DNA.

In light of such changes, it will be interesting to see what will take the place of biological DNA, which, as we discussed, will play a less important role. It will likely be the "DNA" of cultural and mental heritage, as modern artificial intelligences like GPT are based on our morality and our understanding of the world.

The question is whether our cultural and emotional heritage will be needed in digital form.

What do you think?
