In this episode, Elon Musk and DJ Seo (COO & President of Neuralink) discuss some fascinating topics.

The entire episode is, of course, unreal. They talk about how Neuralink works in principle, mentioning that the device's wires are thinner than a human hair. They also cover the technical challenges: on one hand, there's a desire to charge the battery inductively like an iPhone, but on the other hand, the surface can't be heated even by a couple of degrees, among many other things. I recommend it.

Interestingly, Elon Musk reflects on how Neuralink already allows for a doubling of information transfer speed compared to the current world record. Just imagine sending messages, coding, and liking posts could be twice as fast. Lex reasonably asks how important and necessary this is in general.

Elon provides two logical arguments:

Imagine if our voice communication slowed down by 10 times, what would that be like? Productivity would likely drop significantly.

The brain is quite plastic; after listening to a podcast at x1.75 speed and returning to normal speed, everything seems too slow.

In general, it becomes clear again and again that our interaction with devices in general and with AI in particular will be through a neurointerface, and a future of cyborgs awaits us.
