🤖🤖 OpenAI has announced GPT-5.6 Sol - a new flagship with ultra-mode, subagents, and limited access through US government approval.
GPT-5.6 is released as a family of three models: Sol (flagship), Terra (performance level of GPT-5.5, twice as cheap), and Luna (fast and budget-friendly option).
Sol has achieved a 'max' level of reasoning for in-depth thinking and an 'ultra' mode where the model coordinates subagents on complex long-term tasks. HealthBench Professional has increased by 8.7 points compared to GPT-5.5 - OpenAI calls this the largest gain since GPT-5.
The preview is currently available to about 20 companies selected by the US government. A wider release is expected in the coming weeks.
