<p>Today, OpenAI introduced two new open-weight models: gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b. Both demonstrate a high level of performance and can effectively utilize external tools (agentic tool use).</p>
<p>Before the release, a unique safety check was conducted: the models were specifically fine-tuned to enhance their capabilities against biological and cyber threats. This allowed for the first systematic assessment of the risks posed by such models and demonstrated how to safely release them to the public.</p>
