<p>Elon Musk announced that the test launch of Tesla's autonomous taxi service in Austin is expected on June 22, although the date may shift due to strict safety requirements. Importantly, the new Model Y will drive without a driver, going straight from the factory to the customer's home.</p>
<p>It’s important to remember that unlike Waymo, Tesla cars don’t have super expensive lidars – a bet that Elon Musk made many years ago.</p>
