The fact that, according to the theory of evolution, the most adaptive (not the strongest, as many believe) survives is even more frightening. AI may not become the strongest (we can already destroy the entire planet several times over with nuclear weapons), but it can certainly become more adaptive. We, as an organism, are still at the level of an environment from 50,000 years ago and have not biologically evolved, while AI today and AI 50 years ago are vastly different. The speed of change is incomparable.
