🤖 Company spending on AI is growing rapidly, both in absolute terms and per employee.
Ramp has released a fresh AI Index. The market is visibly stratifying: the top 1% of companies ('AI-pilled') spend $7,500 per employee per month, while the median is around $11. The gap is approximately 680 times. For the top 10%, it comes out to ~$611 per person.
The most interesting aspect is the chart of spending per employee: the distance between the top spenders and the median is already huge, and it's quickly increasing. The top spenders themselves have increased their per-person spending by another 14% in just one month.
Want a career tip? You should aim to be in the orange line. That's where AI is already integrated into daily work at the level of thousands of dollars per person. For now, $7,500 per employee is still less than the ~$16,000 monthly salary of an average engineer: people aren't being replaced yet, they're being augmented.
