It seems that everyone is gradually coming out of their New Year hibernation and returning to work mode. Today, I want to share with you an episode of a podcast that I have recommended before — the All-In Podcast featuring Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks & David Friedberg. I especially want to highlight the latest episode, available at this link.

Interestingly, in this episode, they analyze their predictions for 2023 and try to make new ones for 2024. The format of their conversation is particularly engaging — they divided the predictions by sectors (for example, they discussed politics, business, and technology separately). Additionally, in each segment, they highlight the winners and losers of 2024, which makes listening especially captivating.

One aspect that I particularly appreciate is their ability to express unpopular yet reasonable thoughts. Such candor is rare these days. They discussed changes in energy, the impact of gas shortages in Europe, the development of nuclear fuel, and how the industry has begun to enter the so-called “valley of disappointment.”

You can watch the video here, and I also suggest we play a prediction game and choose the winners and losers for the segments:

Biggest Business & Tech Winner
Biggest Business & Tech Loser

For me, the Biggest Business & Tech Winner will be corporations (possibly Apple) that have enough money to train their models and purchase data, while integrating all of this into their products.

Biggest Business & Tech Loser — startups that will be eaten by giants, as they focus on One Thing. If you are creating a product now, you need to think about how to reinvent the entire process with LLMs and AIs, rather than just making one button for one functionality.

What are your predictions for 2024?
